Petchey Academy – Food Tech Room
The Challenge
Petchey Academy had secured the budget for an upgrade to their existing Food Technology Room. They wanted a completely different layout which was more practical for both the students and for the Food Tech teacher, and ultimately would encourage more students to take up the subject.
A full turnkey refurbishment was required including new floor, ceiling, work stations and appliances. Storage was a particular problem, so the design needed to take this into account. A teaching wall was also required as part of the refit.
The project needed to be completed during the Summer holidays 2022.
The Solution
BrookhouseUK designed the room with chevron-shaped work stations which look both modern and stylish but also increase the student capacity per lesson from the previous layout.
The room includes a teaching wall with twin track sliding whiteboards and demonstration area, enabling the teacher to carry out lessons effectively.
Storage issues are often key to designing a successful Food Technology Room and these were resolved with both spur shelving, work station cupboards and wall-mounted cupboards throughout the room.
The refurbishment ensures that the Food Tech Room is future proofed for many years to come.
